Roses Liquid Foundation versus Tinted Moisturizer

With so many choices out there, it's tough to determine which types of makeup to use. Women often put too much makeup on their faces, and wonder why they constantly breakout. The reason is that they've applied so much makeup, their skin can't breathe. Their pores get clogged, leaving bacteria from the makeup in their skin to cause blemishes.

The main factor to think about is what other types of makeup will you be applying in addition to the tinted moisturizer or foundation. If you will also be applying powder and other cosmetics, you might want to opt for the tinted moisturizer instead of a full foundation.

Foundations are merely some moisturizing agent mixed with forms of powders. The liquid portion of the foundation dries or gets absorbed into your skin. Then, the powder portion sits on top of the skin to give the color and coverage. Often, the powdery portion stays mixed with some of the foundations other ingredients to stick onto the skin.

Tinted moisturizers are similar to foundations. The main difference is that the tinted moisturizer's main goal is to hydrate your skin. Therefore, tinted moisturizers are often better for your skin. The drawback is that if you normally just use a foundation, a tinted moisturizer isn't going to give you enough coverage.

If you normally use concealers and and all-over layer of powder, you can get by with a tinted moisturizer. Any areas in which you need more coverage can be corrected with the concealer and powder. That way, you aren't caking the layers of makeup on, and your skin will be able to breathe. If you're going to cover your face with powder in the end, you just need some type of moisturizer that is going to adhere to the powder.

You can still use a finishing powder when using foundations. Be sure not to apply a heavy layer of powder, or you will end up with too much makeup on your face. Just a light application to control shine is all that should be needed. If you don't like to use powder, but always end up using too much, switch foundations to one that offers better coverage.

I find that moisturizer causes my pores to get blocked much quicker then foundation.

You should try a different moisturizer then. If the moisturizer that you are using is blocking your pores, it's not right for your type of skin.

Always be sure to apply moisturizer after washing your face or taking a shower/bath. If you don't, your skin will be dry and soak up too much of the foundation or tinted moisturizer. Even tinted moisturizers have powders in them that you don't want getting deep down into your skin.

Hydrating your skin right away will also help your skin from releasing a lot of oil. When dry, your skin releases more oil to help defend itself. If you apply moisturizer right after washing your face, you add a level of defense. You just need to make sure the moisturizer that you use is right for your type of skin. It may take a while to try different ones out, but eventually, you'll find the right moisturizer.

I have always wanted to try a tinted moisturizer, but I have freckles so I have always used foundation to soften them. Is there a tinted moisturizer that would have similar or at least close to the same coverage as foundation?

I doubt it. Most tinted moisturizers do not go on as thick as foundations, so they don't offer better coverage.

Foundations are fine though as long as you use some type of moisturizer before the foundation. Otherwise, your skin is likely to soak up the foundation and give breakouts.

Thanks. I'll just keep doing what I do. The idea of combining both steps sounded cool...but I couldn't be so lucky...lol.
